Looking after it

Keep it dry, because a tool that lives in a saddle bag through a winter will seize at the pivot. A drop of light oil on the pivot once a season is enough.

Allen 2 To 6 mmThe sizes almost every bike bolt uses
Spoke WrenchStraighten a wobble rather than walking home
Extension RodReaches bolts a stubby tool cannot

Sixteen tools that fit in a jersey pocket.

Allen keys 2 to 6 mm, sockets 8/9/10 mm, flat wrench 8/10/15 mm, both screwdrivers, a spoke wrench and an extension rod.

The tool you own is the one you have with you. That is the whole case for a multi tool over a good workshop set.

Sixteen functions: Allen keys in 2, 2.5, 3, 4, 5 and 6 mm, sockets in 8, 9 and 10 mm, a flat wrench in 8, 10 and 15 mm, both a slot and a Philips screwdriver, a spoke wrench and a socket extension rod.

The Allen range is the important part. A 4, 5 and 6 mm will move almost every bolt on a modern bike, and 2 to 3 mm covers the small fittings people forget about.

The spoke wrench turns a wheel wobble from a walk home into a roadside adjustment.

The extension rod is what lets you reach a bolt set back behind something, which is where a stubby folding tool gives up.

A multi tool is a compromise by design. Every function is shorter and less comfortable than the dedicated tool, and it beats all of them on the only measure that counts at the roadside, which is being there.

The Allen sizes cover the real world. Stem, bars, seatpost clamp, bottle cage, disc rotor and most accessory mounts are 4, 5 or 6 mm. The 2 and 2.5 mm ends cover the small grub screws that nothing else in a saddle bag will fit.

The 15 mm flat wrench is the one worth noticing. That is the size of a track nut, so if you ride a bike with bolted wheels rather than quick releases, this removes a wheel and most tools will not.

A spoke wrench matters more than its size suggests. A wheel that has gone slightly out of true after a pothole is rideable if you can nip a spoke, and a nuisance if you cannot.

Being honest about the limits: short handles mean limited leverage, so a genuinely seized bolt wants a workshop tool and a longer arm. Use this to get home, then do the job properly on a stand.

Frequently Asked Questions

What Allen sizes does it have?

2, 2.5, 3, 4, 5 and 6 mm.

What socket sizes?

8, 9 and 10 mm.

Does it have a spoke wrench?

Yes, which is what lets you nip a spoke and ride home on a wheel knocked out of true.

Will it remove a wheel?

If your bike has bolted wheels, the 15 mm flat wrench fits a track nut. Quick release wheels need no tool at all.

Is there a chain tool?

Not in this one. The 16 functions are listed in the specifications, and a chain breaker is not among them.

Does it have Torx?

No. It is Allen, socket, flat wrench, screwdrivers and a spoke wrench.

What screwdrivers are included?

A slot type and a Philips head.

What is the extension rod for?

Reaching a bolt set back behind something, where a short folding tool cannot get square to it.

Will it fit in a jersey pocket?

Yes. It is designed to be carried rather than stored.

Can I use it as my only tool?

For adjustment on the road, yes. For workshop jobs a full kit gives you the leverage and reach this cannot.

Will it undo a seized bolt?

Probably not. Short handles mean limited leverage. Get home on it, then use a proper tool on a stand.

What is it made of?

The supplier does not publish the material. We have asked.

How heavy is it?

The supplier does not publish a weight.

Does it fit disc brake rotor bolts?

Rotor bolts are commonly Torx on modern bikes and 5 mm Allen on others. Check your rotor before relying on it.

Is it suitable for an e-bike?

The fasteners are the same. Anything electrical should go to a dealer.

Will it adjust my brakes?

Cable brake adjustment is usually a 5 mm Allen, which it has.

Can I tighten my stem with it?

Yes, stem bolts are typically 4 or 5 mm. Do not over-tighten: they are torque sensitive.

Does it come with a pouch?

The supplier does not list one.

Is it good for a beginner?

Yes. If you carry one thing, carry this and a pump.

Can I use it on a child's bike?

Yes, the sizes are the same on most children's bikes.

What is the inner hexagon spanner?

Another name for the Allen key set, listed separately by the supplier as 3/4/5/2/2.5/6 mm.

Should I carry a spare tube too?

Yes. A multi tool does not fix a puncture on its own.

Do you sell a full workshop kit?

Yes, a bike repair tool kit in the same category, with the bottom bracket and cassette tools this does not have.

Will it rust?

Keep it dry. A tool that lives in a wet saddle bag all winter will seize at the pivot.

How do I look after it?

A drop of light oil on the pivot once a season.

Is it covered if it breaks?

Faulty goods rights apply. Email us.

How long does delivery take?

5 to 7 days after a 24 to 48 hour handling time. Express is available at checkout.

Is delivery free?

Yes on orders of EUR 60 or more. Below that it is a flat EUR 22.

Can I return it?

Yes. You have 14 days to change your mind, and faulty goods rights apply separately.

Where do you deliver?

Across Europe. Prices are in euro and shown including tax.

What to actually carry on a ride

6 min read Bike Stand Company

The tool you have beats the tool you own

A workshop set is better at every individual job. It is also at home. Almost every roadside repair is a bolt that has worked loose, a saddle that has slipped, or a wheel knocked slightly out of true, and all three are multi tool jobs.

Why the Allen sizes matter most

Stem, handlebars, seatpost clamp, bottle cage and most accessory mounts are 4, 5 or 6 mm on a modern bike. If a tool covers those three, it will move most of what is on the bike.

The 2 and 2.5 mm ends look redundant until a small grub screw on a shifter or a light bracket backs out, at which point nothing else you are carrying fits.

The 15 mm wrench and track nuts

Worth knowing if you ride a single speed, a older town bike or anything with bolted wheels rather than quick releases. A track nut is 15 mm, and most multi tools stop at 10 mm, which means they cannot get your wheel out to fix a puncture.

Know when to stop

Short handles mean limited leverage, and that is a safety feature as much as a limit. If a bolt will not move with reasonable force, stop. Ride home gently and put the bike in a stand with a proper tool, rather than rounding the head off at the side of a road.

A 16 in 1 portable bicycle tool containing Allen wrenches in 2, 2.5, 3, 4, 5 and 6 mm, socket wrenches in 8, 9 and 10 mm, a flat wrench in 8, 10 and 15 mm, a slot type screwdriver, a Philips head screwdriver, a spoke wrench, a socket extension rod and an inner hexagon spanner set. Intended for roadside and trailside adjustment, carried in a saddle bag or jersey pocket. The Allen range covers the bolts on a modern bike: stem, bars, seatpost clamp, bottle cage, disc rotor and accessory mounts are typically 4, 5 or 6 mm, while 2 and 2.5 mm cover small grub screws. The 15 mm flat wrench fits a track nut, so it can remove a wheel on a bike with bolted wheels rather than quick releases. The spoke wrench allows a wheel knocked slightly out of true to be adjusted at the roadside. Stated limitation: short handles give limited leverage, so a genuinely seized bolt needs a workshop tool with a longer arm, and this tool is for getting home before doing the job properly on a stand.
