Looking after it

Let it dry before packing it away, because folding damp fabric into a bag is what causes mildew. Peg all four corners even in still weather. Brush leaves and snow off the top rather than letting weight sit on the fabric.

A dry bike without giving up a room.

Room for two adult bikes in 200 x 165 x 80 cm. 210D silver-coated Oxford fabric, 2.53 kg, up in about ten minutes with no tools.

Not everyone has a garage, and not every hallway has room for a bike.

This is a fabric shelter that holds two adult bikes, 200 cm long by 165 cm wide by 80 cm high.

The fabric is 210D Oxford with a silver coating, which is what handles UV, water and dust.

It goes up in about ten minutes without tools: straighten the frame, slot it into the reserved gap, bend it into the arch and set the width with the shorter frame.

The whole thing is 2.53 kg and folds into the carry bag it comes with, along with four pegs.

Bike Tent

The problem this solves is a common one. There is no garage, the hallway is not wide enough, and leaving a bike uncovered outside ruins the drivetrain over a winter.

Bike Tent

At 200 by 165 cm on the ground it takes a patio corner or a strip of garden rather than a whole shed footprint, and at 80 cm high it does not dominate a small yard.

Bike Tent

The material is the part that decides how long it lasts. 210D Oxford with a silver coating resists UV as well as water, which matters because sunlight is what eventually makes cheap uncoated fabric brittle and chalky.

Assembly is genuinely quick. The frame straightens, slots into the gap reserved in the fabric, then bends into an arch under a little force, and a shorter frame section sets the width. Ten minutes is realistic, and it needs nothing from a toolbox.

Two honest points. It is a shelter and not a lock: it keeps weather off, and a bike inside still wants securing to something solid. And it is a fabric structure at 2.53 kg, so peg all four corners properly. That weight is why it packs into a bag, and it is also why wind matters.

Frequently Asked Questions

How many bikes does it hold?

Two adult bikes.

What size is it?

200 cm long, 165 cm wide and 80 cm high.

What is it made of?

210D Oxford fabric with a silver coating, which handles UV, water and dust.

Is it waterproof?

The fabric is coated to resist water. Peg it properly and keep the fabric taut, because standing water pooling on a slack panel is what finds its way through any fabric shelter.

How long does it take to put up?

About ten minutes, and no tools.

Do I need tools?

No. The frame straightens, slots in, and bends into an arch by hand.

How heavy is it?

2.53 kg.

What comes in the box?

The tent, a carry bag and four pegs.

Will it survive wind?

Peg all four corners, every time. It is a light fabric structure, so pegging is not optional in exposed spots.

Can I put it on a patio or decking?

Yes, but pegs need something to bite into. On a hard surface, weigh the corners down instead.

Is it secure against theft?

No. It is weather protection. Lock the bike to something solid inside it.

Can I leave it up all year?

You can. Check the pegs after storms and brush snow off rather than letting it sit.

Will it fit a mountain bike?

Yes. At 200 cm long and 80 cm high it takes adult bikes of normal size.

Will it fit two bikes plus a child's bike?

It is rated for two adult bikes. A small child's bike alongside them is usually possible, depending on handlebar width.

Can I store other things in it?

Yes, people use them for garden equipment, pool supplies and toys.

Does it have a floor?

It is a shelter over the bikes rather than a sealed tent. Put it on a surface that drains.

How do I stop mildew?

Let it dry before folding it away. Packing damp fabric into a bag is what causes it.

Does the coating wear off?

Any coating degrades in sunlight eventually. The silver coating is there to slow that down, which is why it lasts better than uncoated fabric.

Can I clean it?

Brush it down and hose it off. Avoid harsh solvents, which attack coatings.

Does it pack small?

It folds into the carry bag supplied, which is the point of the 2.53 kg weight.

Can I take it camping or to an event?

Yes, it packs into a car easily.

Will it fit an e-bike?

Physically yes, within the dimensions. It is a shelter, so weight is not a factor.

How many pegs come with it?

Four.

Can I buy replacement pegs?

Standard tent pegs fit. Email us if you would rather we sourced the exact ones.

Does it come with a lock?

No. We sell a cable lock separately in the accessories category.

Is it better than a bike cover?

It is a shelter you walk the bike into rather than a cover you drape over it. A cover is cheaper and more portable; a tent is easier to use daily and keeps the bike off wet ground.

How long does delivery take?

5 to 7 days after a 24 to 48 hour handling time. Express is available at checkout.

Is delivery free?

Yes on orders of EUR 60 or more. Below that it is a flat EUR 22.

Can I return it?

Yes, you have 14 days to change your mind. Faulty goods rights apply separately.

Where do you deliver?

Across Europe. Prices are in euro and shown including tax.

Living with a bike tent

Pegging is the whole job

A bike tent weighs 2.53 kg. That is what makes it packable, and it is also what makes wind the thing to think about. Peg all four corners every time, even when the forecast looks calm, because the gust that moves it will not give notice.

On a patio or decking where a peg has nothing to bite into, weigh the corners instead. Anything solid will do.

Keep the fabric taut

Coated fabric sheds water while it is tight. A slack panel lets water pool, and a pool of water will eventually find a seam. Take a minute to get the frame properly arched and the corners pulled out square.

Dry it before you pack it

The single fastest way to ruin any fabric shelter is to fold it away damp. Mildew does the rest, and the smell never really leaves. If you are taking it down after rain, drape it somewhere until it dries.

Shelter, not security

Worth saying plainly. This keeps weather off a bike. It does not stop anyone taking one. If the bike is anywhere accessible, lock it to something solid inside the tent, exactly as you would in a shed.

Page summary

Bike Tent (site SKU bike-tent, warehouse pick code bike-tent) sold by Bike Stand Company at bikestand.eu.com, EUR 119. A portable fabric bike shelter measuring 200 cm long x 165 cm wide x 80 cm high, with room to store two adult bikes. Made from 210D Oxford fabric with a silver coating for UV, water and dust resistance. Product weight 2.53 kg. Supplied with a carry bag and four pegs. Assembly takes about ten minutes and requires no tools: the frame is straightened, slotted into the gap reserved in the tent, bent into an arch and the width set with a shorter frame section. It is intended for households with no garage or indoor space, where leaving a bike uncovered outdoors damages the drivetrain over a winter, and it is also used for garden equipment, pool supplies and toys. Two honest limitations stated on the page: it is weather protection and not security, so a bike inside should still be locked to something solid; and as a 2.53 kg fabric structure all four corners must be pegged, because the low weight that makes it packable also makes wind a factor. Care: dry it before packing to avoid mildew, and brush snow or leaves off rather than letting weight sit on the fabric. Stock item, so the 14 day EU right of withdrawal applies in full. Delivery Europe wide, free over EUR 60, otherwise EUR 22.
